Girls Cricket


The pathway from the junior girls’ experience to the Womens’ Grade opportunities at the club is seamless and well supported.

Our girls program is overseen by Neal Patterson, Junior Girls’  Lead Coach, Level 2 Coach and Ciara Metcalfe, Womens’ Head Coach, International player, Level 3 Coach.

 The following is what the club has to offer girls, including more info, training sessions and competitive team experience.

 Parents Pre Season Girls Info Night:

All parents are invited to come along to find out more about the girls’ opportunities at the club Wednesday August 12, 7.30pm

 Girls Skills Academy (Pre Season Training) (For 8-15 year olds)

Girls’ Skills Academy, Sunday August 23 & 30, Sept 6 & 13 from 9am – 11am (registration essential)

Pre season ‘come and try’ for new players and ‘brush up your skills’ for returning players.

 The GSA is conducted as four one-hour sessions in the pre-season and focuses on teaching correct techniques, game sense, preparation for the competition. The program is coached by our Junior Girls Lead Coach, Neal Patterso, with input from a variety of coaches and current grade players.

 Junior / Master Blaster (Intro to cricket Friday) (For 5-11 year olds)

Mixed beginner training sessions on Friday nights during Term 4 & Term 1 to provide a fun and active introduction to cricket.

 Wynnum Girls Squad (In Season Training) (For all girls who want to do skills training)

One night per week 4pm – 5pm (either Monday or Wednesday, TBC) free during Term 4 & Term 1 at the club nets for all junior girls registered across the club, and for ‘come & try’ players who register anytime via the Girls’ Skills Academy link.

 Girls Only Cricket Competition (Girls Heat League Sunday Comp) (For girls aged 8-15 years)

Played on Sunday mornings in Term 4 & Term 1 from 8am (registration essential). Teams available for beginner players and more advanced players

 The Girls Heat League is a fantastic opportunity for Girls to play in a Girls only Cricket format. It is a T20 format that runs for just over 2 hours. It caters for all ranges of skills from those having a go for the first time right through to competitive more experienced players. The emphasis is on participation and giving everyone equal opportunities to enjoy cricket.

 Pink Team – Junior Saturday Comp (For girls aged 8-15)

All girls teams, depending on interest and registration level per age group (we also cater for girls who want to team up with a group of friends from school), play in the mixed comp each Saturday morning Term 4 & Term 1 from 8am and train one afternoon a week

 Mixed Junior Cricket – Junior Saturday Comp (For 8-15 year olds)

Mixed teams of boys and girls play each Saturday morning Term 4 & Term 1 from 8am and train one afternoon a week from u9 through to divisional cricket

 PAUL PINK – U15 Girls Comp (For girls aged 11-15) 

A T20 competition and operates under Premier Cricket standards and the same rules as the Jodie Fields Shield (Women’s Second Grade). This competition provides a clear pathway for players between Junior community Cricket and Senior premier grade competition. Training normally commences with the team trials in October continues throughout the playing season until competition concludes in early late January.

 WOMENS CRICKET (For 15+ new and old players welcome)

Our women’s/girls preseason will kick off on Monday August 10 for players wanting to play 1st, 2nd grade and U15’s. We have two senior teams:

  • 1st Grade – Katherine Raymont Shield

  • 2nd Grade – Jodie Fields Shield

Training every Monday & Wednesday 6-8pm at the club nets.
