Parental Involvement

Parental Involvement

 It’s an Absolute Necessity………………………

The success of Wynnum Manly Junior Cricket and the children involved is wholly dependent on the on-going support and assistance from its volunteers (i.e. the parents of our junior cricketers).

It is these volunteering parents that do the coaching, the team managing, the umpiring, the score keeping and the background administration, which is wide ranging and includes registering players, organising the teams, arranging playing fields, purchasing playing equipment and uniforms, managing the financials, arranging social functions, team photographs and the annual trophy day, and representing the interests of Wynnum Junior Cricket at meetings of the Eastern Districts Junior Cricket Association, the Bayside East and Redlands Junior Cricket Association and the Senior Division of the Wynnum Manly District Cricket Club.

Many of our parents start out coaching a team, if there is no coach there is no team, and then they progress to helping out further as they get more familiar with the available roles and required functions of Wynnum Junior Cricket. Wynnum Junior Cricket has a couple of basic requirements for its coaches: you must hold and maintain a current Positive Notice Blue Card, you must be willing to obtain a Level 1 Cricket Coaching Accreditation, and you must be able to do everything else as necessary to ensure that you have a team of happy kids playing cricket each Saturday morning during the cricket season.

Coaches and Managers have a strong support team throughout the club and positive and constructive meetings to organise teams, trainings and everything in between. If you are interested in coaching a team and enjoying your child’s sport with them, you may even have a friend or partner who wants to do it with or help out with the management of your players and families, the please do not hesitate to contact;

 Blue Card Application Form

To apply for your Positive Notice Blue Card you need to complete the Blue Card Application Form Volunteer application form available to print off with links provided, and then arrange, through Rob Waters our Secretary, to have it appropriately witnessed and signed. There is no cost involved but it can take a few months to have your application processed.

Level 1 Coaching Accreditation

To obtain your Level 1 Cricket Coaching Accreditation, you must first obtain your Level 0 Cricket Coaching Accreditation, which is done online at Cricket Coaches CCA Website and it takes about an hour to do.  Once you have registered and completed, you will be notified by club and email of the available Level 1 accreditations. The Level 1 accreditation is a face to face interactive course run by Queensland Cricket. The next course/s will be conducted and available prior to the start of the next cricket season.

Please complete the enrolment form when available and give it to Rob Waters our Secretary to submit, as Wynnum Manly Junior Cricket Club pays the enrolment costs for any coaching accreditation.
